About the Chicago District
A GREAT engineering force of highly disciplined people working with our partners through disciplined thought and action to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to the Nation's engineering challenges.
The Chicago District is responsible for water resources development in the Chicago metropolitan area, a unique urban area of about 5,000 square miles with a population of about 8 million. The Chicago District boundaries cover Cook, Lake, DuPage, McHenry, Kane, and Will counties in Illinois and Lake, Porter and a portion of LaPorte counties in Indiana. The district is involved in a variety of projects stemming from its primary mission areas of Flood Risk Management, Shoreline Protection, Navigation, Environmental Protection, Emergency Management and Support for Others.
