Baseline Assessment of Non-Cargo CAWS Traffic Release

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released today, the Baseline Assessment of Non-Cargo CAWS Traffic Report (PDF, 927 KB), the third interim product of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study (GLMRIS).

This document serves as a baseline assessment of lock traffic by commercial passenger, recreation and governmental vessels. Further, the report will inform and educate on past and current usage of the Chicago Area Waterway System (CAWS) locks and non-cargo lock traffic from which to compare possible changes as a result of the potential implementation of aquatic nuisance species (ANS) controls.
